Yah Learn Sumthin' New Every Month!

This month I learned that:

1) I absolutely LOVE the "surf guitar" sound of the early 1960's. LOVE!!

2) On that note, I really like The Shadows. Check them out. They are awesome. How did it take me this long to check them out?!?!?

3) I want to see Rival Sons live. They are this incredible new band from LA that channel rockin' vibes from decades past. They must throw a crazy concert. (I think the guitar playing in "Young Love" is a bit influenced by that 1960's surf thing as well! Check out the entirety of their new album, especially "Pressure and Time".)

4) The Black Angel's song "Bad Vibrations" needs to be on a Tarantino soundtrack asap.

5) My new 80's hair band song of the moment is "Hot Cherie" by Hardline. Are these guys still playing?

6) If I'm running late I walk a lot faster if I'm listening to The Phenomenal Handclap Band's "15 to 20".

7) When I want to relax all I need to do is play some Erroll Garner.

New Song, New Gig, Same Swag.

New Gig at a New Venue! Official announcement coming soon. This was the mandatory announcement for the announcement lols. :)

New Song! In the early writing stages, but I can tell you that the title of the song is a popular ice cream flavor. Can you guess what it is? Really "digging" it so far ;) It kinda starts out a bit bluesy/country twang-esque, and then is gonna turn around and rip your face off with some hard rock, which is where my new songs have been liking to live.

Excitement all around. Lots of cool projects in the pipeline. Thanks for staying tuned.

Today's Wise Words

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

RIP Steve Jobs

Rabbit Rabbit

Happy October 1st!!!

September and October start off my Favourite time of year. I love the Fall. I LOVE Halloween. And Christmas.

The whole season makes me really happy and inspired. Last night I began reading a book called "The Adventures of the Twilight Zone". It's a collection of short twisted stories, and I know I'm going to love every minute of it.

When I was little I used to gravitate towards "scary stuff" all the time-- I always used to take the same book out of the library around this time of year. It was a collection of old ghost stories, but I don't remember the name of the collection. And in my high school years my family's Christmas eve tradition was coming home from our Christmas Eve service to cozy up by our TV and finish wrapping presents while watching "Psycho".

I've shy-ed away from the "scary stuff" over the past couple of years, but now I'm back. It's thrilling. And I've missed it.

This must explain my love of Tim Burton films, especially one of my absolute Favourites, "The Nightmare Before Christmas". To me, it's the perfect blend of both Halloween and Christmas, the light and the dark, the "good" and the "bad", and how both can be equally Subjective.

Anyways, I just wanted to kick off the Holidays by sharing some personal memories. And I wish you all much Joy, Spooks, Sweets, Peace, and Love this Holiday Season.

Rock On, Madysin
